Lydia Elrod RYT-200

Lydia practices and teaches yoga for what yoga teaches her about life in return. Yoga reminds her of the resiliency and the strength that the body holds, as well as the body’s need for rest. Her favorite pose is Parsva Savasana, or the fetal position usually performed after Savasana, because of its reminder that each day can be approached anew and that each of us can offer ourselves and each other unlimited grace.

In addition to practicing and teaching yoga, Lydia is a justice advocate, a writer, a researcher, and an all-around fitness-lover. She has dedicated her life to amplifying the voices of those who don’t always have the resources to fight for themselves.

Her non-profit organization, The Chloe Project, fulfills this mission with elementary-age students in North Carolina. A native of Johnston County, Lydia is passionate about seeing her home state grow into a diverse and inclusive community, and she sees her work at Victory Power Yoga as one of the avenues through which to achieve this goal. Satya, or the ethical principle of Truthfulness in yoga, guides Lydia in her passion for justice and reminds her to continuously evaluate herself and her beliefs so that she remains authentically dedicated to the people she serves.

From Lydia, you can expect an equally fiery and calming class with a focus on moving with your breath. While you can expect to be challenged, you will also be encouraged to move in a way that is unique to your body and no one else’s. Lydia hopes that you will leave her class feeling rejuvenated and rested so that you can attack your day with a renewed and positive perspective.
